From the Principal's Pen
July 31, 2018
Dear Purple Pirate Families,
As the principal, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Bristow High School and the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Being a Purple Pirate is special! Our community, alumni, faculty, and staff take great pride in continuing the tradition of excellence established by those who preceded us. We look forward to working together with each of you to provide an exceptional educational experience.
Bristow High School has a staff of highly qualified professional educators and support personnel who are committed to providing our students opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. Bristow excels in many facets. Testament to this success is eleven Academic All-Staters, nineteen National Merit Scholars, eight National Merit Finalists, numerous State Sweepstakes in band and choir, twenty-two State Championships in seven different sports, an award winning Vocational Agriculture program, a speech and drama department with numerous productions and awards, and many other school organizations that not only contribute to our school, but to our community.
A successful education experience for students can be heavily impacted by the quality of the relationship between the school and home. Parents, we strongly encourage you to be an active participant in your student’s education and we value your involvement. The first step to achieving classroom success is attendance, so please make sure your student is at school on time each day. By maximizing instructional time, students will be able to stay current with the curriculum and their assignments, therefore the chance of falling behind decreases. We encourage parents to contact us if/when the need arises and to stay in the know in regards to your student’s schoolwork and activities. Please come support the Purple Pirates at school events and activities throughout the school year.
As the educational landscape in Oklahoma has changed over the last few years, we have adapted to offer our students some great opportunities and experiences. We continually strive to teach students the relationship between what they learn and how it will relate to their lives. The new Individual Career Academic Plan (ICAP) will be more heavily implemented this year and allows students to create their own individualized, meaningful exploration of college and career opportunities. Flex Period will allow us to continue our ACT Prep and implement new Character Education lessons as well, as college and/or work readiness also requires us to teach our children to have excellent character, skills and behaviors.
Utilize this website for helpful links, tools and resources. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We are committed to continually improving and striving toward excellence in our school climate and culture. Thank you for trusting us with your child.
