Welcome Back BMS Students and Parents,

Summer is winding down and the beginning of the school year is right around the corner.  Our secretary’s will be in the office beginning Thursday, August 1st for parents and students who are needing to enroll this Fall. We will again welcome our incoming 6th graders with our Transition Camp scheduled for Thursday, August 8th from 8:30-11 am here at the Middle School.  We encourage all incoming 6th graders to attend to get acclimated with the location of their classes and the use of the lockers. Schedules will be handed out to those students who attend the camp that morning, other students will receive theirs on the 1st day of school, Monday, August 12th.  BMS will also host a Meet the Teacher night on Thursday, August 8th from 5-7 for incoming 7th and 8th graders. Those students may pick up their schedules for the beginning of the year on that night.

We would like to welcome some new staff members aboard here at Bristow Middle School.  Mr. Bryce Hoggatt will be teaching 7th grade Geography as well as coaching football, basketball, and baseball at MS and HS levels.  Mr. Dusty Richerson returns to Bristow Public Schools and will be teaching 7th grade Math and coaching MS wrestling. Mrs. Lori Spencer will be teaching 7th grade Geography and 6th-8th grade Spanish.  We are excited about these additions to our faculty.

Preliminary results are in from the Spring State Testing and we are pleased to say that 6 of 7 tested  subjects were above state average. We appreciate the hard work of all our students and staff this past year and look forward to continuing to look for ways to improve ourselves and our students in and out of the classroom.

I am pleased to inform you that we will be implementing a new visitor check-in here at Bristow Middle School that will be both easy to use and enhance the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.  School Safe ID will require all visitors to present a valid state-issued ID. The system will compare the visitor's name and date of birth to the national database of registered sex offenders. The new system will be in place when school begins this Fall on Monday, August 12th.

We will also be implementing an anonymous reporting system for students and parents to report harmful, inappropriate, or unsafe behavior that students or parents may be aware of here at school or with one of our students.  This program is called STOPit and can be downloaded from the app store and can be activated by using an access code developed by the district for Bristow Middle School.

We appreciate you working collaboratively with your student, his/her teachers, and all staff to ensure that your student is successful academically and behaviorally here at Bristow Middle School.  Our goals for our students continue to be the A,B, C's. Attendance is the 1st priority in helping your child be successful here at school and later in life. School begins at 8 am and students are expected to be on time with materials to all classes in which they attend.  Behavior in the classroom, hallways, athletic events, and on campus is also one of our goals. We follow the 6 Pillars of Character- Trustworthy, Respectful, Responsible, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship, and expect all students to adhere to these Pillars of Character in and out of the classroom.  Our third goal is Course Performance, teachers have worked very hard to ensure that all students are improving in all classes and monitor their progress continually to provide either enrichment or intervention for each individual student. If you have any questions about how your student is progressing in a particular class, I encourage you to contact his/her teacher and discuss their performance.

You can also access your child's grades  anytime through STI. Directions for logging on can be found on the district website at bristow.k12.ok.us.  You can also contact us here at the MS for assistance with username or password.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
