BRISTOW, OK — Local students at the Early Childhood Center (ECC) are receiving a hands-on introduction to conservation and environmental stewardship thanks to the generous support of the Deep Fork–Canadian Quail Forever Chapter. The organization sponsored $750 to purchase Milkweed in the Classroom kits for ECC students, bringing an engaging pollinator education project directly into local classrooms.

The Milkweed in the Classroom kits allow students to grow and care for milkweed plants while learning about pollinators and the essential role they play in healthy ecosystems. Milkweed is a critical native plant for monarch butterflies, serving as the only host plant for their caterpillars and supporting their life cycle during migration.

Through this project, students will explore the importance of pollinators and butterflies within their native ranges while developing an early understanding of conservation practices. By observing plant growth and participating in hands-on activities, students are able to connect science learning with real-world environmental impact.

Quail Forever is a strong supporter of pollinator and habitat restoration projects nationwide, working to improve native landscapes while educating communities about conservation. Bristow is fortunate to have the Deep Fork–Canadian Quail Forever Chapter invest locally, helping introduce young learners to the importance of protecting natural habitats for future generations.

ECC educators shared their appreciation for the partnership, noting that experiences like the Milkweed in the Classroom project not only support science education but also encourage curiosity, responsibility, and respect for the natural world at an early age.

Thanks to this $750 sponsorship, ECC students will have the opportunity to witness the connection between plants, pollinators, and wildlife firsthand — planting seeds of knowledge that will grow far beyond the classroom.
