Fourth graders have been reading the book, "Wonder". To help her students make real-world connections, Mrs. Aston brought in her dog to portray the character, Daisy, from the book. The students loved to have a visitor in class.

Ashley McGovran is our Collins Teacher of the Year. Ashley believes that to set her students up for success, it is important for them to be able to work together. Independence is admirable, but being able to communicate with others is a skill that is needed in their future. Her colleagues can see that she wants the best for each student, while striving to find the strengths each child has and working to maximize their abilities. She is a loyal member of the Collins faculty.

Mrs. Aston's 4th grade class read the book, The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors. They chose one character and had to provide text evidence to why they chose that character trait. Then, they were to draw the character using sidewalk chalk and put adjectives or describing words all around the character.
