Edison Elementary

Today at Edison, our Discovery follow-up visit from the grant we received at the beginning of the year took place! Mrs. Hewitt’s class, Mrs. Sexton’s class, and Mrs. Groves’ class had the opportunity to participate in engaging, hands-on activities all about storms. Students explored, asked questions, and learned through fun, interactive experiences that brought science to life. We are so grateful for opportunities like this that help spark curiosity and excitement for learning in our classrooms! 🌪️💡

Ms. Stitt’s class spread kindness today by making and delivering sweet cards to Mrs. Stice for Secretary’s Day! We are so thankful for all she does for Edison every single day. 💛

Earth Day fun at Edison! Mrs. Owens’ class got their hands messy making dirt cake to celebrate the day in the sweetest way! 🍫🪱 Groves’ class planted grass seeds to grow some silly “Earth Day hair.” 🌱💇‍♀️ Watching it grow will be the best part! Mrs. Sexton’s class created the cutest Lorax art projects while learning about saving our Earth and taking care of our planet. 🌍💚 Hands-on learning + creativity = the perfect Earth Day celebration!

Happy National Secretaries Day! Today we celebrate two very special people who keep our schools running smoothly every single day. From answering phones and helping families to keeping us organized and solving a million little problems behind the scenes — they truly do it all. At ECC, we are so thankful for Tracie Wilson, and at Edison, we are so grateful for Karen Stice. Both of these amazing ladies go above and beyond for our staff, students, and families. Our schools simply wouldn’t be the same without you. Thank you for everything you do! 💐

First grade is having SO much fun with word patterns! 🤓📚 They’ve been working on teams like -ui, -ew, -ue, and -oo, and Mrs. Espolt’s class took learning to a hilarious level. Yesterday, students walked around holding what everyone thought was snot in Kleenexes 🤢 — just to get everyone to shout “EWWWW!” (Talk about memorable learning!) Today, the fun continued with a special delivery for one of our Pre-K teachers, Mrs. Fruits 💌. We love seeing our big kids sharing smiles and spreading joy across grade levels. Way to make learning fun, First Grade! 💙

💧 Second Grade Science Club 💧 Our afterschool Science Club has been busy learning all about the water cycle! Students explored how water moves through evaporation, condensation, and precipitation while having fun with hands-on activities and experiments. We love seeing our young scientists stay curious and keep learning even after the school day ends! 🌧️☀️

Our 2nd graders had a very special visitor last week! 👑 Miss Oklahoma State Fair stopped by Edison to talk with students about what it means to Be a Builder — encouraging them to build their character, their goals, and their future. Students loved hearing her message and asking questions. Thank you for inspiring our Eagles to dream big and build strong foundations! 💛

✨ Last week, Mrs. Espolt’s first grade class got a special opportunity! They enjoyed a sneak peek at the Chrysler Tower before it opened to the public. What a fun and memorable experience for our students to explore and learn beyond the classroom! 💜

We are so grateful to our incredible families and friends for making our Book Blast such a huge success! Because of your generosity, every single child received a brand-new book to add to their home library. 📚💜 Our Book Blast Celebration was filled with excitement as we counted down together and opened our books at the same time—pure joy filled the room! Some students said it felt like Christmas, and one even shared it was better than their birthday! 🎉 Moments like these remind us how powerful and special a love for reading can be. Our 1st graders sure are lucky… and we’re lucky to have them at our school! ☘️

Today our classrooms were full of fun and learning. Some classes were doing “snack math” with Lucky Charms, practicing graphs and tally marks while sorting their cereal. Other classes were busy writing creative stories titled “If I Were a Leprechaun…”—and I can’t wait to read those imaginative tales! ✏️🌈

Meanwhile, other students were learning all about St. Patrick’s Day and the traditions behind the holiday.

It’s been a day full of creativity, learning, and smiles. I’ve even been asked a few times if I’ve seen any leprechauns around the building today… 👀

Our 1st grade students had an unforgettable experience collaborating with the amazing FCCLA high school students! 🎨🧵

Our young artists started by drawing their own unique characters, and the talented high school students brought those drawings to life by creating custom stuffies based on each design. It was incredible to see the creativity of our 1st graders and the craftsmanship of our high school students come together in such a special way!

To celebrate their hard work, everyone gathered at the Freeland Center to enjoy the movie Ugly Dolls together. 🎬

Thank you to our FCCLA students and Mrs. Groom for making this such a meaningful and memorable experience for our young Pirates. We are so proud of the creativity, collaboration, and kindness shown by everyone involved! 💙🏴‍☠️

🎨📚 Seuss-tastic Creativity in Mrs. Groves’ First Grade! 🐾

Mrs. Groves’ first graders turned their classroom into a Dr. Seuss–inspired zoo, and the results were absolutely amazing! 🦓✨

Students designed their own animals and habitats, then gave each creature a Seussical name that sounded like it could leap right out of one of Dr. Seuss’s books. The zoo featured all kinds of imaginative animals—from Plippos to Sions, Ligres, Lagiligators, and many more!

The creativity, color, and fun these students put into their projects truly brought the zoo to life. What a fantastic way to celebrate reading, imagination, and the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss! 📖🎉

Great job, first graders! Your Seuss-tacular zoo was full of creativity and smiles! 🐘🌈

It's that time of year! Just a reminder that the Pre-K storm shelter, located at 119 W 9th, will be open whenever 1) there's a severe thunderstorm warning two counties away, or 2) there's a tornado warning in Creek County.

From fun themed snacks to engaging reading games, students found so many exciting ways to celebrate their love of books. It was a week filled with laughter, learning, and lots of great stories.
