Six students were asked to choose a teacher to participate in a Punt, Pass, Kick competition during Rise and Shine, today. Teachers did not know this was happening so they couldn't prepare. It was a LOT of fun watching them. The Winner of the FIRST EVER Punt, Pass, Kick Game was... MRS. DUNLAP!!! Thanks to all of the teachers for playing along. We loved it!!

Second Grade led an awesome Rise and Shine this morning. We were able to give awards, play some games, watch teachers act silly, and celebrate with our awesome cheerleaders. We are striving to be a purple school (not just purple pirates, argh) and it's so much fun with we get to do fun things with the schools around us. Here is a glimpse of some of the moments! (Don't worry - There will be several posts coming... It's very hard to showcase with just 10 images.).

Great weather means we are able to play on our bikes. Kindergarten cycled around the playground on the track. Learning is more than just pencils and paper. :)

F is for football and FUN. Kaden, BHS leadership student, brought his love of football to his PreK class during their letter F week. Check out those skills! Do you have something in mind that the PreK would love to learn or experience? Get with the office or your child's teacher and let's give them ALL of the cool experiences!

New to the CREW: Meet Mrs. Smythe, our librarian. Just like we did with Mrs. Martin, we put Mrs. Smythe to the test with a LOT of fun questions. What do you think is the most surprising fact? Please help us welcome Mrs. Smythe to the Pirate Family. We hope you plan to come over to the library next week during Parent/Teacher conferences. She would love to say, AHOY MATE! About Life Outside of School • What is one of your hidden talents? I am awe4some with a leaf blower! It is one of the tools that I can use when fighting fire with my volunteer fire department. • What would the students be surprised to find out about you? Hmmm... I am very mysterious. My students would probably be most surprised to find out that I did not become a teacher until only two years ago. • What is your dream vacation? I would love to take a trip to visit all 7 continents! Also, I want to go to all the outdoor food markets that I see sometimes on social media. I can smell the yummy food right through the screen! • How do you spend your summer breaks? Sleeping, reading, and swimming. • What are your “trapped on a desert island” books or movies? The book that I could read again and again would be The Bible, or any fantasy book with dragons. • If you won the lottery and decided to give up teaching, what would you do instead? I would run a dog shelter, where I could snuggle dogs while they are waiting for their new homes. About School Life • What makes a ‘good day’ at school? A good day at school is one where I can share my love of books with my students. When they enjoy reading, it increases their chance of academic success. Plus, books, ya know! • How do you show your school spirit? I wear purple every Friday, and I am learning the Bristow cheers from the cheerleaders who help with the car line every Friday. • What sort of morning routine do you have to get jazzed for class? I like to jam out to music first thing in the morning. • What inspires you? I would have to say my family. My husband, my children, my grandchild, and I have gone through a lot as a family, and they are the most amazing blessing I have ever received. • How does technology make teaching more simple or difficult? I think technology enhances education. We have access to so many resources using technology that were unheard of before. We can also use technology to help students develop real world skills. • What’s the best/worst thing about being a teacher? The best - my students, the worst - getting up early!

Ag in Education was alive in Bristow recently. Students from the High School FFA program came to Edison with stories and pig friends. Hearing a story is fun, but watching the story come alive with pigs you can pet is priceless. We are SO LUCKY that our district works in support of each other from high school to kindergarten.
