🥣 5th Annual Cereal Box Challenge Success! 🥣 Today was our 5th Annual Cereal Box Challenge, and once again our students absolutely outdid themselves! 👏 This year, we collected 1,123 boxes of cereal—that’s 100 more than last year! These boxes will be donated to our local social services to help support families in our community. ❤️ 🍦 Ice Cream Party Winners: Mrs. Peterson’s 1st grade class brought in the most with an incredible 187 boxes! 🌟 Top Student Contributor: Lucky Mathis (Mrs. Peterson’s class) kicked off our domino run and brought an amazing 183 boxes! 🏆 Grade Level Winners: * Pre-K: Mrs. Fruits’ class * Kindergarten: Mrs. Baker’s class * 2nd Grade: Mrs. Dunbar’s class A huge THANK YOU to Social Services for helping us in advance, and to every student and family who donated cereal boxes. Our kindergarten and T1 classes have been learning all about life cycles, and we were lucky to have some very special visitors—tiny caterpillars! We watched them grow bigger and “fat and sassy” as they ate and ate, eventually forming their chrysalises. With lots of patience and excitement, we then got to witness their amazing transformation into butterflies. Once all five butterflies emerged, we had the unforgettable experience of releasing them. One butterfly had a small wing issue, which gave us the unique opportunity to gently hold it and observe it up close before setting it free. It was such a meaningful, hands-on way for our students to truly understand the life cycle and appreciate the beauty of nature. A magical learning moment we won’t forget! 🦋

For the past 21 days, ECC students have been eagerly watching eggs in the incubator and waiting for them to hatch. Over the weekend, the BIG moment happened… we welcomed baby chicks! Several classes even had a little fun along the way by placing eggs in their chairs for students to “sit on” and try to hatch. Today, Mrs. Fruits’ class walked in to a BIG surprise when they found baby chicks in their seats — also known as little peeps for them to eat! 🐥 What an egg-citing hands-on learning experience for our students!

Pre-K would like to send a BIG thank you to Mrs. Ruby Ritchie for donating our caterpillars for our butterfly life cycle science experiment! Over the past few weeks, our tiny caterpillars formed their chrysalises, transformed into beautiful butterflies, and today our students were so excited to release them. What a special hands-on learning experience for our Pre-K friends! 🦋

🥣 It’s Time for Our 5th Annual Cereal Box Challenge! 🥣 This Wednesday, ECC & Edison will kick off our 5th Annual Cereal Box Challenge to support our local food pantry. This is a tradition we love because it teaches our students the joy of giving and helping our community. Last year, our families donated an amazing 1,023 boxes of cereal to Social Services — and we would LOVE to beat that number this year! 💜 Please don’t forget to send boxes of cereal with your student this week. Every box makes a difference and helps local families start their day with a meal. Thank you for always showing up for our community and helping us make this event bigger each year! 🥣💛

Our bus drivers are such an important part of our school family! 🚌 They are the first smiling faces to greet our students each morning and the last ones to send them home safely in the afternoon. Every single day they make sure our kids start and end their school day feeling safe, cared for, and welcomed. Rain or shine, early mornings and long afternoons — they show up with patience, kindness, and big hearts for our students. They truly help set the tone for a great day of learning! We are so thankful for the incredible bus drivers who take such amazing care of our Edison & ECC students. 💜💛 If you see your child’s bus driver, take a moment to share a smile, a thank you, or a note of appreciation. They deserve it more than you know! 🚌

Mrs. Baker’s class had a very special visitor today! One of her former kindergarten students, Emileigh Yingst, who is now in 3rd grade, came back to read to her class. The students loved listening to her read and seeing a familiar face who once sat in their very same seats. It was a sweet moment of connection and a great reminder of how much our students grow and learn over the years! 📚💛

Happy National Secretaries Day! Today we celebrate two very special people who keep our schools running smoothly every single day. From answering phones and helping families to keeping us organized and solving a million little problems behind the scenes — they truly do it all. At ECC, we are so thankful for Tracy Wilson, and at Edison, we are so grateful for Karen Stice. Both of these amazing ladies go above and beyond for our staff, students, and families. Our schools simply wouldn’t be the same without you. Thank you for everything you do! 💐

Today was a BIG day in Mrs. Keli's Pre-K class! 🎓🍎 Mrs. Aubrey Shackelford wrapped up her student teaching journey at ECC, and Mrs. Keli's class made sure to celebrate her in style! Our students helped cheer her on as she graduates and officially begins her adventure as a teacher. We are so proud of you, Mrs. Aubrey! Thank you for loving our littles, learning with us, and being such a wonderful part of our classroom. We know you are going to do amazing things in your own classroom! 💛📚✏️

This week in Pre-K we focused on the letter Y… and what better way to celebrate than with YOGA! 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️ We were so excited to wrap up our week with a special visit from Mayor Kris Wyatt, who joined our students for a fun and relaxing yoga session. Our little learners loved stretching, breathing, and practicing healthy ways to move their bodies while having fun together. What a wonderful way to end our “Y week”! 💛

We loved welcoming JACOP Yingst to Edison! 💙 JACOP visited Mrs. Owen’s class to read to students and share about cerebral palsy, helping bring awareness and understanding in a meaningful way. Our students enjoyed the story time and learning how we can celebrate and support one another’s differences.

Mrs. Balenti’s class added a little color to snack time! 🌈🥣 Students had so much fun making edible rainbows using Fruit Loops and marshmallows. This hands-on snack was a sweet way to practice patterns of a rainbow, colors, and creativity while enjoying a tasty treat together! 💛

Ahoy, ECC families! 🏴‍☠️ Our little Pre-K pirates had a swashbuckling week sailing through the letter X! They practiced their X words, made their own X marks, and sharpened their treasure-hunting skills. To finish the week, our crew followed clues all around the school on a grand adventure to discover where X marked the spot… and they found their pirate treasure! 🗺️💰 We loved watching our tiny treasure hunters in action! ⚓️

Today our ECC students had a special visitor! 🐣 Randi Hill with 4-H Youth Development from the Oklahoma State University Extension in Creek County came to help us get our incubator set up for our egg hatching project! Students learned fun facts about eggs and chickens, what chicks need to grow, and what we can expect over the next few weeks as we watch this amazing life cycle happen right in our classroom. We are so excited to begin this hands-on learning experience and can’t wait to share updates as our chicks start to hatch! 🐥💛

📢 Pre-K Enrollment Days Are Here! The next two days are Pre-K enrollment and screening days. Please make plans to bring your child with you to your appointment. 📄 Important Reminder: You must bring ALL required documents listed on the flyer. Without these documents, your child cannot be enrolled. We can’t wait to meet our newest Pre-K students and families! 💛

Today our Pre-K students were supposed to visit our local nursing home for their annual Easter egg hunt, but the rain left the yard flooded. They improvised and held an Easter egg hunt from classroom to classroom instead! 🐣 The kids had a blast searching each classrooms and still got to enjoy all the Easter fun. A big thank you to our local nursing home for generously donating all of the eggs and candy to make this day so special for our students! 💕

Mrs. Balenti’s class is making math extra sweet this week! 🌈🐰 Students had Easter fun graphing jelly beans and turning math into a hands-on learning adventure. From sorting by color to counting and comparing, these little mathematicians were busy building their graphing skills one jelly bean at a time. Who knew math could be this delicious? 💛

Today, our principal, Mrs. Adams, proudly represented Edison Early Childhood Center (ECC) as she spoke at the Lions Club meeting in Bristow, Oklahoma. She shared the story behind our school’s success with the All-In Spirit Flag, which we have earned more than once across the district. This recognition reflects our strong commitment to student attendance, ongoing professional development, meaningful community involvement, and outstanding Pirate pride. During her presentation, she highlighted what makes ECC so special—not just our achievements, but the people and partnerships that make them possible. She expressed deep appreciation for the Bristow Lions Club and the many ways they have continuously supported our school and students. She also spoke from the heart about how much she loves being part of ECC, emphasizing how our staff and families work together to give back to the community. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the strong connection between our school and the Bristow community and to share the pride we all feel in being “All-In.”
