Shelton Breaks Discus Record

Jaci Shelton Breaks Record

Bristow has a new queen of the discus ring. Her name, Jaci Shelton. This past weekend Jaci tossed the 1 kilogram disc 121 feet 6 inches. That toss broke the previous record held by Rachel Weir at 121 feet 1inch. Rachel Weir had a great career throwing the discus when she attended Bristow breaking the Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and school records. Jaci has managed to break Rachel’s Sophomore, Junior, and now school record with many more opportunities to come. Jaci just missed out on the Freshmen record in a season that got cut short because of the rise of the COVID-19 virus.
Her team, coaches Bob Campo and Scott Hall, and family have helped Jaci become our school’s best ever discus thrower. Jaci also puts in the time and effort and is very deserving. She usually is the last person to leave the throws area. She has attended camps and is always learning to help herself achieve more in this sport. “I couldn’t be more happy for her,” says head coach Shannon Hilburn. “It is nice to see her hard work and dedication pay off.” Jaci is currently ranked 4th in class 4A with last Friday’s record-breaking toss. She will be in action again this Friday April 15th right here in Bristow.
