We have had a great start to our school year. We are blown away by so much community support in school supply donations , people asking to help, and of course, our police department. We appreciate so many gifts for teachers and have been blessed by Amazon Wishlist deliveries. Thank you to our great community for supporting us as we educate your children.

Spotlight on Collins Teachers!
Sarah Stinnett is a fifth grade teacher at Collins Elementary. She teaches Reading, ELA, and history to sections 5A and 5B. She has been teaching for 6 years. She taught ELA and social studies in a previous district. Sarah says, "I love watching the kids begin to invest in their own education. Every year we have a conversation about college and future goals. It is amazing to watch students begin to realize that they have so many doors open to them. I want them to realize that school is not a punishment or a chore, but a stepping stone to whatever they dream"! This year Sarah wants to teach students to see the beauty and art of writing, instead of viewing it as corporal punishment. In her free time she loves gardening and traveling with her kids. She says, "Every year we choose five weird plants to add to the garden and I love that my kiddos are so invested in choosing the craziest plant. Snake beans? Yes. Purple Broccoli? Yes. Berries that are poisonous unless cooked? Absolutely"!
Spotlight on Collins Teachers!
Camy Nicholson is a Special Education teacher at Collins Elementary. She has been teaching for 22 year in multiple special education classes. She has taught TMH, EMH, physically disabled, learning disabled, resource rooms, multi-handicapped classes, visually impaired classes, hearing impaired classes , and gifted and talented classes. She has also been a bus driver for many years. Her favorite part of teaching is being actively involved in students lives and seeing the brightness in their eyes and their smiles, when they have comprehended new learning. Camy's goals this year are to help students believe in themselves and to know they have a safe, loving, and kind environment to come to everyday. She also wants students to know that she believes all students can and will learn. In her free time, Camy enjoys taking care of and playing with her menagerie of animals, fishing, camping, trap competitions, and gardening. She loves spending time with family, which includes flying with her husband. She also spends time in Bible study.
This event is tomorrow! Head out for a good time with the kids, get some free school supplies, and enjoy the different trucks.

She taught 2nd grade, before moving to 4th grade, where she has stayed, because she loves it. Her favorite part of teaching is instilling a love for math in her students. Her goal this year, and every year, is that her students enjoy learning. Deva uses many fun activities to engage her students. In her free time, Deva loves to hang out and enjoy her family.
