Hargis Leadership Institute is excited to invite Bristow students to attend The Leadership Experience (TLX) 2023 hosted by the President’s Leadership Council at Oklahoma State University! The spring TLX is on March 4-5. It is a two-day high school leadership conference intended to empower and equip young student leaders to create positive change! This spring's TLX focuses on building a culture of inclusive and open-minded leadership. We're inviting all juniors and seniors! The registration fee is $130, which covers your lodging, meals, conference materials and t-shirt. To confirm your registration, please submit the non-refundable registration fee, t-shirt size request and liability and medical release forms. You'll stay at a local hotel and transportation to and from the OSU campus will be provided. On Wednesday, January 25th we will have an IGuardians presentation by Anthony Meter. Mr. Meter works for the US Department of Homeland Security, and is dedicated to educating our youth about the dangers of online environment. Project I-Guardians is focused on keeping children and teens safe from online predators through education and awareness. The project is an outreach effort to share information about the dangers of online environments and how to stay safe online and how to report abuse and suspicious activity. ICE has partnered with the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children and The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to develop project IGuardians. The project is committed to combating online predators, and protecting our youth and future generations. BECOME A JRF SCHOLAR The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides a multi-faceted experience designed to not only address the financial needs of students who aspire to attend college but to guide them through the process of higher education. JRF Scholars receive grants of up to $30,000 over four years to supplement the financial aid they receive from their colleges or universities. In addition, Scholars receive extensive support services, including career guidance and internship placement, and attend JRF’s annual four-day "Mentoring and Leadership Conference" in New York City and other regional events throughout the year. https://jackierobinson.org/apply/

The Oklahoma Arts Institute will be holding OSAI audition preparation workshops on December 2 at Bartlesville High School for high school students interested in the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain (OSAI). They will have workshops for acting, chorus, drawing & painting, film & video, and photography. If you are unfamiliar with OSAI, it is a two-week residential school for Oklahoma’s most artistically advanced high school students that will be held at Quartz Mountain State Park & Lodge on June 10-25, 2023. OSAI, each student receives collegiate-level training in one of eight artistic disciplines and studies with leading faculty artists from across the country. Auditions for OSAI take place in January and February, and every student that is accepted attends on full scholarship. OSAI Audition Preparation Workshops Friday, December 2, 1-3pm Bartlesville High School 1700 Hillcrest Drive, Bartlesville, OK 74003 Acting, Chorus, Drawing & Painting, Film & Video, Photography Each audition workshop will feature a lecture or masterclass by an Oklahoma artist on a topic relevant to their artistic discipline. There will be a discussion about OSAI as well as the discipline-specific audition requirements and audition Q&A. Drawing & painting and film & video students may bring portfolio materials to the workshop to be reviewed by the clinician. Each workshop will be recorded and shared on our website for those that are unable to attend in-person. There is no cost to attend. Educators are also encouraged to attend with their students to better understand the audition requirements. Following through on their promises, Coach Hannah and Mr. Bigbey represented BMS well! Coach Hannah had his head shaved to promote our canned food drive and Mr. Bigbey kissed a pig for winning our coin drive competition for United Way. We are grateful to have a great student body and wonderful caring teachers that support the community! Thank you Coach Hannah and Mr. Bigbey for being good sports!

We are extremely proud of our BMS students, parents, teachers, and community for raising a BMS record breaking donation this year! It's inspiring to witness such generosity! Thank you Coach Shannon Hilburn and Bristow Social Services for involving BMS! It's safe to say that Coach Hannah will be getting that hair cut tomorrow afternoon! Go Pirates!
