FinTech Focus is a two-week immersive program designed for incoming college freshmen with an interest in finance, computer science and technology. Over the course of the program, students learn the principles of computer science, gain exposure to the financial services industry, and get hands-on experience developing real-world applications. Students will have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers, learn the basics of banking and finance, and gain insights into STEM career paths available in college and beyond. The course will take place virtually, with the support and sponsorship of top financial firms. The program is open to students who are completing their final year of high school and are planning on enrolling in an accredited college or university for Fall 2023 or Spring 2024.

WHAT IS OKLAHOMA'S PROMISE?
Oklahoma’s Promise allows students who meet certain income, academic and conduct requirements to earn a college or technology center tuition scholarship.
Created in 1992 by the Legislature to help more Oklahoma families send their children to college, Oklahoma’s Promise was originally designated as the Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program. The program is administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Microsoft Scholarship – High School Students in Technology Careers
This scholarship will be awarded to promising high school seniors with disabilities who plan to attend a vocational or academic college and aspire to have a career in the technology industry.
The scholarships are renewable – each winner who continues to meet the criteria is eligible to receive an annual award of $5,000 for up to four (4) consecutive years for a potential total $20,000 scholarship. A total of eight ( 8) scholarships will be awarded in 2023.
The Microsoft Disability Scholarship seeks to empower students with disabilities to achieve more through access to education leading to a career in technology.

The third and fifth grade spelling bees have been rescheduled for Monday, February 6th, in the Freeland Center. The third grade bee will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the fifth grade bee will begin at 1:00 p.m. We wish all spellers good luck!
After driving our bus routes both in and out of town, and the conditions of streets and school parking lots, Bristow Public Schools will continue distance learning on Thursday, Feb. 2nd. Friday is a professional development day for teachers, therefore students will return to the classroom and in-person learning on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023.

American Indian Services Scholarship Application!
The AIS Scholarship program is to help undergraduate Native American students with financial support to attend college, maintain enrollment, and graduate. Scholarship Awards are based on up to one-half of tuition and need for the term the student is applying for and are allocated directly to the school for the student. Hargis Leadership Institute is excited to invite Bristow students to attend The Leadership Experience (TLX) 2023 hosted by the President’s Leadership Council at Oklahoma State University!
The spring TLX is on March 4-5. It is a two-day high school leadership conference intended to empower and equip young student leaders to create positive change! This spring's TLX focuses on building a culture of inclusive and open-minded leadership. We're inviting all juniors and seniors!
The registration fee is $130, which covers your lodging, meals, conference materials and t-shirt. To confirm your registration, please submit the non-refundable registration fee, t-shirt size request and liability and medical release forms. You'll stay at a local hotel and transportation to and from the OSU campus will be provided.

On Wednesday, January 25th we will have an IGuardians presentation by Anthony Meter. Mr. Meter works for the US Department of Homeland Security, and is dedicated to educating our youth about the dangers of online environment. Project I-Guardians is focused on keeping children and teens safe from online predators through education and awareness. The project is an outreach effort to share information about the dangers of online environments and how to stay safe online and how to report abuse and suspicious activity. ICE has partnered with the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children and The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to develop project IGuardians. The project is committed to combating online predators, and protecting our youth and future generations.
